How to date your mixer
👋 Hey There, Mixer Enthusiasts!
I'm Jake, the developer/IT guy here at Mr. Mixer, and I'm super excited to share this little tool I cooked up!
One of the more common questions we get is: "How old is my mixer?" so I decided to make our own little tool to help you figure that out!
The Solution: Our Mixer Age Decoder!
Hopefully this makes figuring out your mixer's birthday a whole lot easier for you! 🎂
Here's How to Use It:
- Flip your mixer upside down
- Look inside the base
- Find the sticker with the serial number
- Enter that serial number into our decoder
- Boom! Manufacturing date revealed!
📋 Bonus Feature
I've also included the manual decoding sheet at the bottom of the page, just in case you're the hands-on type who likes to figure things out yourself! Sometimes it's fun to be a mixer detective, right? 🕵️♂️
Happy mixer dating!

What You're Looking For: Sticker Spotting 101
Here's an example of what that sticker should look like when you flip your mixer over! 📸
Remember: Every mixer's sticker placement might be slightly different, but they're usually tucked away in the base somewhere. Happy hunting!

Here you can see the serial number for this mixer, WX0404154
Vintage Mixers (Pre-1979)
Special Instructions for Classic Hobart-Era ModelsGot an Older Mixer? No Problem!
The decoder down below is designed for mixers made before 1979. This means it was crafted during the Hobart era of KitchenAid before they were bought by Whirlpool.
🔍 Looking for a Different Sticker?
If your mixer doesn't have the same sticker shown above, don't worry! Keep an eye out for a sticker with 5 numerical digits like the one pictured below.
Alternative Dating Method
Here's how to crack the code on those 5-digit numbers:
- First 3 digits = Day of the year (001 = January 1st, 010 = January 10th, etc.)
- Last 2 digits = The year itself
Example Time!
For the mixer shown in the photo (e.x. 19087)
- Manufacture date: July 9th, 1987
- How we know: Those 5 digits told us everything we needed!
Pretty neat how they packed all that date info into just 5 little numbers, right?

Vintage mixers will have a 5 digit serial number
